well I am sorry to have to say this so directly...but the situation on the forums is really, really problematic I had hoped that we would suddently get many more to come here, and to stay, but I don't think we succeeded...not with inviting and nor with voting for the forums I don't want to sounds pesimistic, I am simply realistic about it. No offense, but when only 4-5 people constantly post on the forums, then...we have a big problem. I don't know why this happens, and why others don't post, I have no idea... What I however realise is that something should, and must change, and it must change soon. I don't know what exactly, but I think it is anyway up to the moderation team and to the One to make changes. We must face it...this situation cant continue...we can't go on, not like this... I am very sorry to say this, especially sorry for The One who has done a good job with the forums...but I must say. And I am just as sorry to say that if the situation remains the same, there is no point in continuing. Let's face it - nothing has happened in...2 or 3 months... If nothing is done to make something happen soon, nothing will happen at all.
Well I doubt there is anything we can do except wait. No doubt this site is now well linked with the web.
The main problem is members who regsiter don't stay active. The page 3 of the member list is full of pretty poor members. page two has some good ones but many poor ones whilst page one is mostly good members.

At least people are still coming to the site and joining though, even if most don't stay active, we are still growing. Every now and then me get active members joining, so like mos said, we just have to be paitient.
that is ok...everybody has of course more or less time for the site... alas...still, it is not easy for a new site to compete with already existing, bigger sites...
Yes it must be difficult. However you never know if PJ might do another film on something about Tolkien, which would boost our memberlist through the roof I should think!
indeed...that is why for example the plaza has so many members most are people who saw the movies and then joined, asked a few questions and then went away for good... you never know...The Hobbit is after all a possibility, as the action is not huge, and could be easily made into a movie
I know Im new here, but I'm going to toss in my humble opinion anyway.
Point the first...
The Forum itself is pretty good. The site itself could use a little cleaning up. I know its silly, but quite a few people out there base their impression of the quality of content upon the quality of the appearance.
Point the second...
There has to be more to the site than just the Forum, and that depends on what we the members want. I like RP personally. RP connected to a resource site is definitely a great idea, but there doesnt appear to be much RPing in the forums. The ranking system is definitely a bonus, as it gives us members a secondary goal.
Point the third and final...
Its been my experience that if you pick up two or three decent members a month for two years, you are way ahead of the curve.

Im actually working on that. My old RP group was AOL based and in the US primarily. There were about 60 of us and we drifted apart about 4 years ago. I was just skimming the EoA when I saw the link to this site and that brings us up to date.
Most of the people I played with prefer a chat based RP although we did play in forums as well.
Sorry that was TMI (too much info). I am trying to contact my old friends, but most of us left AOL for broadband ISPs.

I'm the first to admit that I'm one of the members that seem to have dropped off the map. For me personally, the main problem is time. The majority of my comp access atm is through work, and I just don't have all that much time to make quality posts.
Re: RPing. I myself am a forum RPer, preferring the merits of a well-thought out post over the spontanity of chat RP. Once again, however, it's all a matter of having the time to post.
Complaining as I see you start with here and in every place you go TM. If I remember good wasn't it the same reason why you got sent in exile from the Plaza??? Ohh, my mistake, there were bigger reasons then that, I'm afraid.
The forums look wonderful and well done, the people obviously work hard to keep a couzy atmosphere and a delightfull enviroment. Don't spoil it!!!
If you think there's something wrong and something must be changed then why not starting with yourself?
Don't get me wrong but stating the facts is not a solution. When you get sick what do you do? Go back and search why you got sick or finde immediately a way to get healthy again?
If you aspire after a mod position perhaps it would be wise to start acting like one even before getting one, is what I think.
In my humble opinion there's nothing wrong here with the forums but perhaps with those who make up the forums and the changing should start from this level. Advise: a whealty forum beggings within its own members.
nice to see you're still the same... and please, let us not bring up such matters here on the forums if you wish to talk to me you will discover the forums has a very useful PM function and as far as my wishes are concerned, they are not to be seen as criticism, as I am not in the position to make requests, I just presented my view on the situation and tried to see if we can find a way to cope with the situation.
of course friends... no, no harm taken, the wounds no longer exist as far as I am concerned I have very well managed to get over that loss, and even though I did lose many good friends, I have gained some new ones here.
