Nice to meet you Jaidoprism7. I looked through the posts and it seemed like the Valar were fair game so I just went for it. However I really admire the Teleri for their songs and their dedication to the Sea and the Folk of the Shire for their quiet bravery and their carefree lifestyle. However I haven't yet found a character that suits me as much as I should like.
Welcome back Amrun, it's good to see you on the Board again. I am somewhat like Amrun. I still am trying to make up my mind. I know I posted several years ago, but tastes change over time.

I like this one. After some thought I'd also have to pick a Valar and combine it with a human. I'd say I'm most like Nienna and Eowyn. Nienna because the hurts of the world grieve her and sadly I've got too much empathy in me. And Eowyn because I had always fought against the conventions of what a lady's place should be and understand that unhappiness of being a round peg someone is trying to pound into a square hole (or is it the other way round?)
I would tend to identify with Nellas. Hiding in the shadows and not communicating unless absolutely necessary. I detest Thingol though (in whose kingdom Nellas lived).

What makes you detest Thingol, Lorelline?

I am afraid it is a bit (in fact, totally) off topic...
A few things make me not very excited about Thingol. His attitude towards Beren is understandable, but he sort of uses double standards - he of all should understand very well what Beren feels, who is in love with someone not of his race. Thingol has been through the same yet is not compassionate but angered.
He also neglects Luthien's feelings... There he should have known better.
He declines to give up the Silmaril to Feanorians (in my opinion he should have followed the advice of his wife);
and lastly, he deals with the Dwarves unwisely - in the sense that he shouldn't have involved them at all. This is disputable though because that part of The Silmarillion was not written by Tolkien himself, only an earlier version of Tinwelint's death exists in the Tale of Nauglafring (hope the spelling is right).
To be fair, there is a brighter side to him, too - fostering of Turin and treating him fairly, which was not easy. And it was wise to keep Doriath proteted by the girdle of Melian.
He I think is not to be blamed for not taking part in the affairs of the Noldor. Doriath might have fallen to Morgoth's forces if not for Noldor, but if not for their exile the Valar also could have intervened much sooner - so we don't know.

Yet for me personally, because the favorite characters are those most thought-provoking, it follows that least favorite ones are those I never happen to think of. And for that reason I don't know who to "nominate".
On the other hand, something like "What I like the least in (Thingol, or Feanor, or whoever)" would be an easier one. Maybe others are of a different opinion though.
