My name is Alexander, and I'm from Bulgaria. I'm a Tolkien fan since it was 13 years old. I'm artist, and I have created illustrations for "The Silmarillion", "The Hobbit" and "The Lord Of The Rings". One little part of my stuff can be seen in my blog: http://alexandergenov.skyrock.com/
Well, thanks everybody for the warm welcome ( that's chapter 10 from "The Hobbit")! So, I'm gonna answer:
My favourite Tolkien character: Barliman Butterbur, cause he is funny and always makes me think about one bulgarian actor, Vylcho Kamarashev. He's not famous worldwide, but I think he's great. In my illustrations for "The Lord Of The Rings" I have portrayed him as Butterbur. And also The Witch King, and the Ringwraiths at all - it's not that I support them, but it's always interesting when they arrives.
My favourite book: The Lord Of The Rings
How long time I've been painting the Tolkien characters: Well, my first ideas came in the summer of 2008 when I was walking in the park of my hometown Stara Zagora. It's a beautiful place. I find overthere my Middle Earth. But the illustrations themselves I created between the spring of 2010 and the autumn of 2011, with a few monthsbreak. As for my favourite painting, the illustrations that I present consist an aquarelle paintings and pencil drawings as well. I love my pencil drawings, all of them. Maybe I prefer them than the aquarelles. And I love my layout - my cover pages, and the font that I've created.
I hope that one day my stuff should be published. For now I don't post the more of them in internet to avoid possibletheft.
Your pencil work is amazing! You capture so much more than just the image.
The tone and texture lends itself to Tolkien's work.
Needless to say I enjoyed your drawings and the aquarelles!

PS : And I also appreciate you guarding your work from thieves! Theft of anothers artist work really makes me angry ... it is something some folks just don't understand.
