Hello I'm Amrûn and I'm a MASSIVE fan of all Middle-Earth realated stuff. My beautiful LOTR paperback is DEADish so i annoy my library by always borrowing them out. I'm a horibble speller, not to good with computers and i love the appendices/indexes! Nice to meet you all!!

Hello and welcome! Love the name but isn't it Grey-elven rather? I think it's attested in...
'The names of the letters most widely known and used were 17 n, 33 hy, 25 r, 9 f: númen, hyarmen, rómen, formen = west, south, east, north (cf. Sindarin dûn or annûn, harad, rhûn or amrûn, forod).' Appendix E
Well, it's actual Elvish in any case, and that's good in my book
This site will scratch that itch for your love of appendices/indexes. Every one here has a great deal of knowledge and are constantly raising interesting questions of the past, from the Tale of the Two Trees to LOTR and beyond.
Yeah, see I got it of a footnote from falling dipthongs in Quenya in one of the appendixes (can't check right now, wrong edition), but it didn't give me the language it was in.

Hmm, I think that when you check this you'll find that the footnote with amrûn (at least the one I think you're talking about anyway) is related to the statement on Sindarin long vowels -- especially prolonged vowels being marked with a circumflex and so on -- rather than the next footnote on diphthongs.
