Hello all

Hello everyone. I am a member of the Plaza and I see some familiar faces around here! I was just curious to see what other forums are like and am pleased to say that this one is quite nice. I am not sure how much I can contribute, I just wanted to say hi.

Hello! Wrong forum though. Post here if youre a begginer, advanced member or loremaster, and this topic can be moved..
Dont hesitate to ask if you need any help.

Hi Curunder. I am sure you can contribute alot more than your letting on. We have people from many ranges of knowledge on Tolkien here. You could also try choosing a Kingdom via the 'Ranking Kingdoms' page.

Ah, thanks. Sorry about that. I must admit it feels weird being a newbie! Thanks for the move.

Thanks, MoS. I hope so!

Hello Curunder I am a Plaza Reject. But no hard feelings toward those of you have not yet been suspended. It's nice to be able to interact with PLazarites. If they ever changed policies and would let me back, I's be back in no time flat. Welcome to Tolkien Forum!

If I may ask, what was your plaza name and why were you suspended?

My Original Name was ArwenLegolas and after a few months, I changed it to Arwolas. There was a problem with another poster, so we asked to have our names removed. This was the first large RPG forum I belonged to. They didn't remove my account, only my husband's. The person I had a problem with finally moved to Lothlorien and changed her name. I got homesick for the plaza, and not knowing that my account had not been removed, I went and applied for another account, and chose the Hobbits, since that was what the other person had suggested, and became Peregrina Took. I was really active, had lots of activity and many friends. One day I tried to post, a thing popped up saying that I had been suspended. It was all a bad misunderstanding. I have been going back and several more accounts, because I became addicted to the plaza everytime I returned. The last one was Súlimé. I had many many others. I love the plaza and it's many wonderful people. If they would forgive me and just let me start with my lowest ranking character, I would love to be there. I hope that this explains this a little. With other words, I was suspended for having a duplicate account.

Swallow...no
You're really far away from the truth
The Plaza is a large group, and have their own quality members, but the truth is most are only mediocre both in understanding Tolkien's work and in being active there.
There are many other good Tolkien fansites and organisations on the Internet, places that will (hopefully) never disappear.

The One Boards, is one of those as is this Tolkien Forum. If I can help it, we will never be swallowed up by them.
When I was a member at the Plaza, I was on there anywhere from 6-14 hours a day. I was involved in as many as 48 activities. It was like an addiction. This site and TO are the ones I am on most. Plus a few HP sites

Maybe that's just the problem Lady Arwen. If you get addicted to something or someone is very hard to let it go afterwards. Obviously, there's anger in every word writen on the Plaza's addresse. There must be a balance and normally hobbies play a very important role regarding this particular issue. If you're very busy with something it will be easier to forget.
Every site has his own principles. Plaza's main principle by far is: more
q
uantity, less quality. It doesn't mean however it doesn't have its own values, like FUN, friendship, creativity etc. Every site has strong points and weaknesses.

The beauty of a forum consists mainly of its members. An united community will surely draw new people to the forums. It's not just about talking and debating on Tolkien issues because besides Tolkien fans we're humans as well, we wish to make friends, to chat, to have fun, to behave childish with each other and take responsabilities when it comes to serious things.
Specialy on a multinational forum such as ours, it is important to be friendly, helpfull and carefull. Newbies have always the feeling of being discriminated by veterans and they feel intimidated. It is up to us to keep them here, to give them a reason to come back and enjoy their time on TF.

Neahh, you've probably had enough already of this lenghty speech.. so I'll puff out like I always do.

Rumil, I am not angry at all at the Plaza. I still have friends there, but I found a balance on other boards. Not wanting to die or commit suicide like the first couple of times when I was suspended from there. I don't really that many Hobbies. Tolkien and Harry Potter are the two biggest. And I do a fair deal of reading books other then HP and Tolkien. My posts were always of the greatest quality. They gave me a Elf of the Month rank last year in Rivvy, I was Gildor Inglorion.  A special rank is not easy to achive, especially after only five weeks there. But I have no hard feelings. And I don't get angry, I get even. Nah, not really, but the plaza, even though I still have accounts there which are dormant, and hardly used. It is not that important to me anymore. Besides, I most llikely will get that job I been talking about and will not have much time to be online.

TM- I remember you from the Plaza, I didnt know you personally but I did see your name around a lot.

Rumil- I agree with you on most points. I am not much of a lorist when it comes to Tolkien, I know my fair share of info but am not an expert nor do I try to be. I actually spend most of my time, or I have, in OoMe (Out of Middle earth) the basically 'free' forum for fun or anything. Heck, I have even tried to make OoMe a Kingdom like any of the others! I am being more social in my own kingdom ( I am a wizzie) and it is a good experience.

ArwenLegolas-An SCR in your first few weeks? That is impressive! I was on for two years before I got my first one! But then, I had only posted in my kingdom once or twice before that! No, to be addicted is not a good thing and something that I have tried to avoid. It is best to keep a balance.

Anyhow Curunder, I am happy that you have found our little corner of Middle-earth. I take it that you are still in school of some sort, probably working through your finals. I hope to see more posts once the school year is over. Good luck in the time.
