Has anyone else seen in the paper today that they are about to launch a new book about Hurin son of Turin very soon. It will be a very interesting read I am sure.

The Tale of the Children of Hurin of the Narn I Chin Hurin it is. You can find a not yet completely edited and unfinished version in the Unfinished Tales. I've heard about this as well, and am looking forward to purchasing the book in English if I can find it, it's really an interesting one.
I went and entered. Who knows, I may win a Trip to the UK. The Might England is not that far from Germany, maybe we could visit. I am actually having the Book on Pre-order at B&N. Can't wait for it to get there. I am saving up to go to my Estate In Scotland. I just purchased a double plot of real estate in the Scottish Highlands. Comes complete with titles. Lady Arwen and Lord Ralph Wilson. We will come there in 2009 during the Winter. November Probably. The Estate has a Guest Farm. I am going to rent "The Retreat" only £175 for a whole week and it sleeps 4. I am starting a Photo and addess album for those people who want us to visit them. It will be a 2 week European tour.

Scotland...nice Not necessarily my taste since I get enough rain as it is over here, but I'm sure it would be interesting to live there for a change Who knows, maybe I'll come visit sometime...
I have visited scotland a couple of few times and it virtually never stops raining up there. The mountains are always covered in cloud. Its worse than West Wales which I have been to many times also.
Just came from my Inklings Roundtable. We were talking about the book, too. One of the Members gets all the collectors issues. We are all Tolkien fans, but I wish I had the money to afford the UK edition like he can. Well, maybe when I strike it rich. The Might We are going on on vacation to Europe for 2 weeks in the winter of 2009. I was thinking of coming to visit you in Germany. I have family there.

I changed my Book of Hurin Pre-order a couple of days ago from regular to the Deluxe Edition. Had B&N discounts and coupon. The $75 book ends up costing me only $42 plus tax because it also qualified for free shipping. I took a look at the drawings online and knkew I had to have them. But they are only in the deluxe edition.

Well, for me it's tax deductible since I am a writer. Especially since I am writing a book which involves ME. I am going to approach the Tolkien Estate and find out how much I have to pay them to use words like Gandalf, Arwen, Middle-earth etc.

Yes, Glorfindel, Barnes & Noble is an American Store. I have a membership with them. I just cancelled the pre-order since it could take up to 30 days. It does not make sense to put something on Pre-Sale and then not even send it.

Well, I knew there could be nothing incredibly new, the story is old, and already more or less published. Still I believe this is a acquisition worth making.
I went and re-ordered the Deluxe Edition. It's too bad that the Deluxe Edition isn't coming out until May 16th. It makes it easier for study though. Because now you don't have to hunt through 2 or 3 books and different chapters. It makes it a lot easier. I found a 15% off coupon and so I am only paying about $39 plus tax for it. Better then $75 plus tax.

According to the TolkienLibrary, there were only 10,000 copies in the first U.S. printing of the deluxe edition, demand having been drastically underestimated. They have all been distributed to stores, and by the end of the month it will be in its third printing. It could be exaggerated publisher hype, or an intentional marketing ploy, but... now might be a good time to get one if you plan to.
I ordered this book along with The Atlas of Middle Earth a few days ago and I can't wait to get them!
The story of Turin Turambar is one of my favorites. I enjoyed the Unfinished Tales version much more than what was in the Silmarillion.
And although I guess I fit into the total geek fanbase he WASN'T aiming for, I still definitely appreciate a chance to read the story in a less taxing format. I've read the original, so I don't feel robbed - it will probably clarify things for those who have only read the separate UT and Silmarillion versions.
Celebrindal, I got my First Edition in May! SO I am going to have to start reading it, because my Tolkien Society Group is having it as its discussion next week Thursday. So I got to get with it.
Secret Fire. I bought the Maps of Tolkien's Middle-earth about a month ago at half price books. The English edition. It would have cost my 20 Pounds Sterling, but I got it brandnew for $17 The exchange rate would be over $40 dollars right now for this book.

I don't own that or have read it (it's a different book than the Atlas that I bought), but much like almost any Tolkien book, I'd like to own it just the same. Let us know how you like it.
