Amazon's Rings of Power
(Preview)
My first thread in a very long time lol What are people's thought on the Rings of Power series? It caused a lot of controversy when it first came out a couple of years ago, during the height of the 'woke' stuff going on. I haven't been able to muster the energy to see it due to some of these issues, plus a host o...

Tolkien Documentary
(Preview)
Hello friends, I found a documentary that was recently posted on Youtube in three parts. It was originally released sometime before the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy came out. Oddly enough it was hosted by Graham McTavish who plays Dwalin in the new Hobbit movies, so it's pretty funny to see Dwalin...

Presentation of The Hobbit
(Preview)
A couple of months before the release of The Hobbit, I read an article saying that the main challenge confronting Peter Jackson was how to present The Hobbit cinematically. Should he attempt to give it the epic feel of The LOTR and forgoe the playfulness of the book, or should he give it a more cheerful t...

(Preview)
Well, I noticed we didn't had a thread on this topic so far, so here I ask you:
What is/are the best scene(s) in the movies and why?
I personally would say the scene with the beacons is really nice, because it somehow symbolises new hope, a new chance, and I think it was really well done.

A Major Movire Adaptation Error

In the book, Shelob stabs Frodo with her stinger in the neck. However, in the movie she stabs him in the chest (both shown when he is stabbed and the mark on his chest later). But he is wearing the mithril vest...proven when the orcs take it off him. What do you all think: did Jackson/Boyd know this and igno...

Book Gandalf vs movie Gandalf
(Preview)
When I watch the LotR movies, I often wonder (among other things) why Peter Jackson chose to make Gandalf less powerful than his book counterpart. In FotR, when the Fellowship is attacked by wargs, he uses magic to set trees on fire, and he holds several of the Nazgul at bay by himself on Weathertop. In t...

Why do so many have trouble with the film and the book?
(
1 2
)
(Preview)
The book is too long to include everything in the films, so there had to be adaptation to keep the films exciting.
What I don't understand is, why are there so many purists out there who look at any deviation from the book, as a heinous sin? I personally am extremely grateful for the films, as I would nev...

The Moral Belittleling of Faramir

In the book he states that "if he found it (the ring) by the roadside, he wouldnt touch it." Whereas in the movie, he decides to take the hobbits to his father, and only when they are in Osgiliath does he change his mind. This change have indeed annoyed me. Why belittle Faramir in this manner...

Shout or whisper
(Preview)
This may seem a trivial matter to bring up, but Ive been thinking about it a bit. In the books as Gandalf hangs on to the ledge of the bridge by the eye of his teeth he shouts (according to me): "Fly you fools!" But in the movie he whispers the words. What do you all think. Which is the best interpre...
