If there's a similar thread (and I missed it) please ignore this message. I was just wondering which creature or who would you be from the whole Tolkien world? Which are the reasons of your choise?
If you have more options I think would be nice to make one big post for all in order to keep this thread short and clean. Arda is huge, think before posting. In the first age might lurke creatures which are similar to you more then you could have possible imagined. Just a point. *giggles* The best post will be awarded with a ... a ... a chocolate cookie *giggles* made by me.
*wise nods* don't be ashamed to recognize that you're Shagrat or whatever hidious creature, we'll understand; right guys? *again giggles* All three ages are valid as long as with all books. If you have special preferences, don't hesitate, shock us!! I am queer and I am wicked *grinn* (are we precious?) Have fun maggots!!
Ah...nice thread. This is, however, a very easy choice for me. I would definitely chose to be a Beorning. I never really knew why, but I was always fascinated about the Beornings, their origins, the way they interacted with other people in Wilderland, their role in Tolkien's stories, everything. I would enjoy raiding the mountains and chasing away Orcs, keeping the mountain passes safe, and protecting the Woodmen. I don't know why but for me Wilderland has always had a special misterious aura, something other regions in my opinion don't have. It is, I believe, a consequence of the fact that in The Hobbit Tolkien based the story much more on myth and legend, and the complex history that came with LOTR did not exist at the time. Not to mention, as a Beorning you could always enjoy Beorn's, and later perhaps Grimbeorn's, honey cookies...
This is a very easy choice for me. If I had a choice I would be Beren. He was but to the greatest quest of all to get the girl and came out on top. Okay sure he did die for a little bit but still.
For mostly of you was an easy question as you said but you only answeared half. Not much of a reason have I heard 'till now to backup your choises. Might you reconsider all above and fancy new names to fit you best. Just a feedback, no need to get ...
I'm definitely still remaining a Beorning...just as Beorn I do sometimes have some mood changes...but I am mostly friendly...and I don't like Wargs either
I like this thread. It is a tough one for me, because who I would want to be and who I think I would be are two different charactors. Who would I want to be? Fingolfin, the reason, he was a great king, who challenged Melkor to battle, and lead his people across the Helcarx. I would like to think that that is how I would be.
Now, who do I really think I would be. Ar-Pharzon. I don't like it, but I am pretty cocky, and when someone tells me that I can't do something, I usually end up doing it just to prove them wrong. Whether I actually wanted to do it or not. So if the gods would of told me that I couldn't sail west, then I am sure that would of been one of the first things I would of set my mind to doing. Although I would not of gone because of the trickery of Sauron, he would not of needed to trick me.
I would have to be Tom Bombadil. He ha no troubles. The ring has no power over his mind so i would have to choose him. Although being Fingolfin would've been cool.

I have to say I'd be Túrin. The brooding, solemn persona, the excessive pride, ofermod, the stubbornness (not going back to Doriath even after he was pardoned), etc. Not that he's someone to strive to be, but I'm closest to him.
Or, Saruman. Started off good, but became obsessed with taking things apart to see how they work, getting corrupted, overwhelmed by pride, started to copy Sauron in making Isengard into a mini-Barad-dûr but wanted the Ring for himself, etc.
Or even Sauron "When he found how greatly his knowledge was admired by all other rational creatures and how easy it was to influence them, his pride became boundless."
Proud, corrupt, brooding, stubborn ... I think those fit well.
Walks in with a smile on her face and says to all assembled:" Are you kidding? Manwë! Definitely. Yes, it is finally out of the bag. I am power hungry. And I am a child of the Light, so it would have to be a being of the light. I love those Eagles that keep coming from all over Arda to tower of Oilossë on Taniquetil.
