Hey Andu! *huggles* It seems I am behind the pack on getting over here from the Plaza *g* Which isn't surprising, considering its me were talking about.

Not for you Ammy!

Thank you all for the welcome and *g* at Rilly. I'm the big procrastinator here, I haven't been in this place for ages, partially due to me being in Rome for some days.

Elendil - Yup hope to see you around here too

LOL!

How was Rome? Been there myself - couple of years back, and went to the Colosseum, which was awesome.

Lotrplaza, one of the biggest, but most ban-happy sites around. Visit one day if Boredom overwhelms you.

well, I don't think we should trash the plaza.
the forums is ok, and I think you can have fun there.
just take care and respect the rules and all will be ok...don't make stupid mistakes like I did.
and they aren't really ban happy, they just take measures quickly, sometimes maybe too quickly, but never withou a reason.

Seldom without a reason, oft without sufficient warning.

well, I still think you can't hold it against them.
just as Fea told me after I was suspended,
if you play, you pay.
so you can never sy the plaza is an evil site cause they didn't warn you.
you are responsible to read the faqs and the rules and indications and as long as you respect them nothing will happen.
if you do mistakes you are responsible on your own for beeing suspended, you can't hold the admins responsible for not enough warning.
their system only deals with any problematic members a lot quicker.

I never said it was evil. Considering you were banned from there you seem to still defend it often. Holding on to false hope that you will be re-activated as a member - no chance. They made it clear to me when I was suspended it was permanant. You will be forgotten amidst there thousands of other suspended members.

I defend it because I don't hate it.
yes, I am also permanently suspended.
and for good reason, for not respecting some simple rules.
and no, I don't want to return, nor do I keep hope to do that.
and I think there is no need to turn this site into a site where we trash the plaza.
it is a good site, with only a different way of acting.
no need to say they are evil or inefficient.
maybe some older plaza members like Narg or Elendil could confirm what I said.

As said I don't think it was evil, for Evil does not exist in the world in its true sense. I merely pointed out that this site is far fairer to its members.

could be.
I just wanted to say there is no need to trash the plaza.
also there is no need to make a bad image for the plaza for newbies.
each person should get his own opinion for himself.
and if you don#t mind...why were you suspended from the plaza?
were they so unfair?

Might, an "older plaza member I'm afraid that I'm not (still in but my first year there), and I honestly don't wish to make an issue about the Plaza here on TF.

However, I personally don't appreciate the unfortunately numerous amount of posts that have been made on this site in regards to the Plaza.  I realize that some members of TF have a bad taste in their mouths regarding the Plaza, but I don't believe that this warrants the repeated posts here on TF regarding these opinions.  I appreciate that these are indeed your own opinions, and are fully entitled to expressing them, but in my opinion, topics such as this would be better suited to a more direct setting (ie, IM).  I myself have upon several occasions written up posts here on TF that, upon reviewing them before posting, have decided that they do not belong on this forum.  If you truly wish to use this site to enjoy the Master's works, then I suggest that you do the same, and not fill TF with hostile posts regarding the Plaza.

my point as well
no need to say bad things about them, as I doubt they are saying bad things about the TF on the plaza

No they wouldn't becuase then they would be advertising TF and, knowing them, they certainly would not want that.

Anyway, plaza rebellion over as said.

mouthofsauron, I see no reason to assume that the Plaza, or any other Tolkien site, would feel any sort of animosity towards any other Tolkien site.  Note that the Plaza has TF listed in its Link Directory page.

Note that they have not even catagorised it like those above. They have not said its size or language.

well, really know...they don't hate us...
i am sure they had no time...actually admins usually don't have time for anything else...
well, anyway, I think we should concentrate on the TF as that is all we have left (well at least I) so I#ll help here as I can

Try doing the same things you do here when you have 80 000+ members to look after, or even with the fraction of that 80 000 that are actually active on the Plaza.

good job, Narg!

As you say Narguzir -  A fraction of 80 000 on the plaza. Why then don't the plaza delete the accounts of the members they have banned or have been inactive for a very long time?

I will tell you why. They want to make it look as if they have 10s of thousands of real active members on there site and want there member list to keep growing - a pretty cheap tactic. There is no point in users who don't use! On this site if you have not even viewed the site for over a month your account will be deleted. Far better idear, at least it ensures that members on here are active.

No they don't.
the admins themselves said more then once when asked how many members the plaza has that it only has a few thousands.
and trust me, if you were an admin I don't think you would be in the mood to lose many many hours to delete 70000 accounts.

No they should have deleted them as they went along, instaed of ending up with a shambles of a member list.

Glorfindel, I personally don't agree with TF's policy on "inactive" accounts.  I can think of many situations that could easily lead to a month of inactivity.  In fact, one of my very good friends on the Plaza, who is also one of the site's most active members, was recently offline for two and a half weeks.  Was she being neglectful of the Plaza?  Had she chosen to abandon the site?  Quite frankly, no.  She had been helping to care for a sick relative, in a region in which she didn't have access to the Internet.  Had this lasted more than a month, and had she been a member here, she would have returned to find that her account had been deleted.  You may say that this is an isolated example, but I can easily give you many that have had RL issues that have kept them offline, of merely suffered from "burn-out".  These members may take some time offline, and then come back fully energized and ready to be once again active members, in some cases, more active than before.  Now, I'm not saying that the Plaza has the best system available, however, I still don't feel as if one month should be the "point of no return" on a members account.

I would also like to say that I have sat by relatively passively for quite some time now while some members here at TF have done everything in their power to make a bad name for the Plaza.  I pride myself on keeping a cool head, and being able to ignore it when other people don't.  However, I have quite frankly had enough of the repeated slander that I see against the Plaza almost every time that I log onto TF.  I am good friends with many people on the Plaza(including R/As), and I myself am a rather active member.  I came to this site because one of these friends (who is now an Admin here) suggested the site to me, and his word was sufficient to pique my interest.  When I arrived here, I immediately saw that promise that the site had, and I signed up the next day.  The site has grown nicely since (albeit a bit more slowly than I think some of you would prefer), and I have enjoyed having this new forum to visit.  However, I find this seeming obsession with the perceived inequities of the Plaza that some members here find the need to share quite blantantly to be very grinding, and I will quite frankly not take it any more.  I will not stand by as others defame people that I count among my friends.  In another forum here, Might mentioned that I am an Ent on the Plaza.  While this is not entirely true, you have still managed to rouse me, although I still do not post in anger.  I have taken almost an hour now, writing this post while at work.  You can be assured that everything said within this post is said with a level head, and not in rage.  I will say the following once, and once only.  If it comes down to coming here to TF and reading post after post of needless defamation of the Plaza and responding in turn, or to use that time posting where I have not-insignificant commitments elsewhere (ie, the Plaza), I will most assuredly choose the latter.

damnit...just what I didn't want to see happening...
I said it before and I will say it again:
can you please stop the repeted harassment and slendering of the plaza.
just because you were suspended doesn't mean the plaza system is wrong, it means you made a mistake.
and actually I am getting more and more curious as to why you were suspended from the plaza.
and Elendil is 100% true.
for example, next month I will be almost 3 weeks away on vacation in France.
if for some reason let's say my net connection will go off for 2 weeks after I return, I might find myself suspended (fact that would probably make you happy)

And there is only one way to control the situation.
I ask the powers to from now on give a direct warning to any person on the TF that slenders the plaza in any possible way.
and...don't go dear Ent!

Well if it affects you that much Elendil, then I will cease to talk about the plaza anymore.

it doesn't only affect him, in case you didn't notice.
and yes it would be for the best not to bring up the plaza and slender it.

I would just like to claer one thing up - You do not get suspended for being away for a month! Your account is deleted but this is no form of punishment! You can simply register a new one. I suggest some of you need to read the FAQ!

still you lose your account and also the position you hadfor example if before you used to be a rank 9 and could enter private forums, you won't be able to with a new account

I think you are trying to make it sound as though there is no way around it.

If your going to be inactive for any length of time you could simply say so to the Powers to stop your account being deleted. Simple as that.
