I'm just checking in here with my regards and a little background. I was on tolkienforum.co.uk from 2007 till its closure in 2011, and now John Wain has pointed me in the direction of this wayside inn. Good to be here, it seems very cosy.
I wouldn't really say that I'm a true Tolkien aficionado these days, but he remains one of my favourite authors. Rather, I'd say that he and C S Lewis nurtured a love of reading in me which has set me in good stead and I am forever grateful. As such some of my Tolkien lore is a little rusty... Hence the fact-finding mission into these parts.
My Tolkien library contains the Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion, the Children of Hurin, and Unfinished Tales, plus the Tales from the Perilous Realm and the Fall of Arthur. I have Morgoth's Ring, but haven't read it yet, and I have, if anybody's interested, a copy of the Jerusalem Bible floating around somewhere which I understand Tolkien had some minor consultation role in.
Now, just to make my allegiance clear, I pledge allegiance to the Peoples of Beleriand, to their Lords and Ladies, to their cities and forests. I myself am a humble servant in the house of Ereinion Gil-galad, may songs be ever sung of him.
I'll take it upon myself to wish you many good days here on the forum. May you find discussions worthy of your insightful comments (such as I know you made on our old forum).
I hope the heavy cavalry arrives soon to greet you. Arwen, Bear, MoS, where are you? Now we're here, we need your presence among us once more!
