Hi, I am very new to the world of Middle-Earth, primarly because I was very young when I first heard of LOTR. Though I am now older and have come to find a fairly recent, but deep, apprecation for Tolkien and his works, I have still not come of age according to hobbit tradtion. I decided to start the adventure of reading The Hobbit and LOTR trilogy upon watching the movies and becoming more curious of this world. My father is actually the one who introduced me to LOTR, as he was required to read The Hobbit when in high school and fell in love with Tolkien's work. I am currently on book VI of the LOTR trilliogy and I am both very excited and sad to becoming so close to the end of this adventure. However, I'm already thinking of re-reading this trilogy as soon as I read the Silmarillion. My username LeafofLorien I chose based upon my favorite quote "Not idly do the leaves of Lorien fall." I am very excited to have found this forum and hope to discuss many great topics regarding LOTR and other Tolkien works.

Welcome and well met, A leaf of Lorien! Allow me to be the first to welcome you to this, a beloved site. I have only been a member here a short while but have come to learn much from the friendly and knowledgeable members of this site. I read The Hobbit in my early twenties and enjoyed it but didn't really appreciate it until I read it several more times. Especially after reading LOTR. It seemed to me that the well of wonder that is The Hobbit ran even deeper than I had ever expected and I became enthralled with the works of Professor Tolkien.
Do not be remiss to finish the long tale of The Lord of the Rings because, as you might know, there are many other tales and stories other than LOTR, Sil, and The Hobbit that just further the experience, adventures, lands and histories of Middle-earth.
You will find that no topic is too old to revitalize with some question or another. You can even start your own topic if you choose. You will meet pretty much the entire bevy of characters that make up this site as they come out of the wood-work to add to your contributions. Browse the old or ongoing threads and breathe some life into them....we like that sort of stuff here.
Above all, have fun and explore there is a lot to be gained here...
A second welcome to you. I'll echo everything Jaido said and add that there is no shame in re-reading good books. I do it constantly and find something new each time I read. This is especially true in JRRT's work. I think this site prods one to look at his books in new ways and find out tidbits that were missed. It's lots of fun. I hope you enjoy it here.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I am very excited to be here and to begin a more indepth adventure into the world of Middle-Earth. I'm looking forward to reading and participating in both old and new post. :)
Thank you Laurelin. I already feel so welocome here. I love to re-read books too, especially ones that I've fallen in love with like I have with the LotR and The Hobbit. There is just so much to take in with Tolkien's works, already from previewing some of the post I can tell that I will be taking so much more out of the books when I re-read them. I am really excited to start partcipating in post so that I can find out new tidbits of information that I missed along with different ways of looking at the books, just like you said. :)
Thanks HeadingSouth, nice to meet you too. It's great to finally be here and to meet someone who is fairly new to the forum also. Already I feel very welcome and excited to get started.
LeafofLorien, Let me add my welcome. Love your name and explanation on why you chose it!
Your describing how you have come to fall in love with Tolkien is one which many of us share with you ... maybe with slight variations but with the same passion. There is lots here that is new and a lot that goes back a couple of years and when an older thread is opened our interest is peaked.
I'm only a member here but if I can help in any way please don't hesitate to ask. Someone did the same to help me.
I think it is exciting that you are reading Book Six. I remember wanting to re-read it after I finished it for my first time. I think you will find yourself with many who feel the same you do. You make me smile ... because my daughter (who is a huge Tolkien fan) got started in the same way as I read book after to her at story time and bedtime. She is still a big fan and we trade Middle-earth anecdotes all the time.
Again let me add my welcome,
Bear an Elf-Friend

I'll join the others in welcoming you LeafofLorien!
So you've read The Hobbit and some of LotR so far? The Silmarillion will fill you in on alot of the backstory to things which are hinted at in LotR so I'd definitely read that after you've finished. The First Age is undoubtedly the best Age of Middle-earth, so much stuff going on and it's all on a much more epic scale than in the Third Age.
