I'm testing the waters here. I've never been part of anything like this and will be curious to see if I stick with it. There seems to be a lot of nifty information though.
As everyone else I love the books. But, what I really am into is the maps of Arda and the trails/roads taken on all the adventures. If anyone knows of good maps detailing the journeys I'd love to find them
Oh, and I'm toying with the idea of looking into the languages of ME.
I guess that's all there is to tell at the moment.
Welcome and well met! Everything you said through your introduction was ideal for this site because it's all here. Search around and get to know everybody. Most of the members here are staples and have taught me a lot pertaining to ME. We even have a language teacher who is currently instructing some members in Sindarin! There's no topic too small and no question out of the realm of possibility here! I've been a devout member here for only a short while but I find the members here are knowledgeable and engaging. So have fun! Once again; Welcome Laurelin and well met!
There are lots of resources here, in personel, literary, and in links.
I am only a member here but if I can help in any way please just ask. That was done for me when I started and there are many folks who would be happy to help you here.
There are many topics and threads in the many catagories which have developed. Please don't be intimidated by any dates on the Forum's topics ... we love it when folks open the door or re-open the door on the threads ... we love Tolkien and really enjoy sharing him and his works. Feel free to create a thread. People will go out of their way to make you feel welcome here.
There are a few simple games that can help you get started; like Trivia: The Silmarillion or Trivia: The Ainur and Eru. There are games like "Middle-earth from A to Z Fifth Edition" and "Riddles in The Dark" in which we all enjoy learning and sharing. One of my favorites is the "Quote Game" (maybe an obsession with me?)
My friend Jaidoprism7 has it right; "There's no topic too small and no question out of the realm of possibility here! I've been a devout member here for only a short while but I find the members here are knowledgeable and engaging. So have fun!"
Go ahead try it.
Again,
Welcome!
