Hi! I was searching a good picker of Minas Tirith for my desktop

Sorry bout that my computer had a glitch. But as I was saying, I was picking a picture for my desktop and found myself as this website. I love the Lord of the Rings but I don't know whether to consider myself a fanatic or beginner-I'm more in the middle. So how did all of you arrive a this site?

Folks have come to this site in a variety of ways but most stay because of their love for Tolkien and his works.
We are all on different levels here when it comes to our understanding of Tolkien ... but there is no question that no matter how knowledgeable we are we all learn from each other ... no matter what level.
Try us out ... pick one of the listed threads, create your own thread, join in the trivia games, or jump in on the various discussion topics (like "Why would a half-elf choose to live as an elf?") ... and you will see your input or questions will be respected and welcomed.
I am only one of the members here but if I can help in any way post in our chat-box, or through a thread, or even through the message function in your profile.
How did you come to like Tolkien?
Who is your favorite character?
What is your favorite book?
Again Welcome!
Bear an Elf-Friend

Thank you Bear. I got into Tolkien about two years ago when I read the Lord of the Rings. I had read the Hobbit before, but it didn't make as big an impression on me. My favorite character is probably Aragorn, because he has so many qualities that make him an amazing person. My favorite book just has to be The Lord of the Rings. It's what led me into the world of Middle-Earth in the first place. In Lord of the Rings, my favorite is The Return of the King. It has the most suspense, I think.

I'm a Fingolfin fan myself. His calling out Morgoth in single combat is one of my favorite passages in the Silmarillion.
But I find Aragorn right up there too. I especially like Bilbo's poem about him that you have in your signature ... my favorite line is ... "Not all those who wander are lost."
I enjoy reading and re-reading many of Tolkien's works and almost always find some new phrase or tid-bit that expands on what I have learned.
There are so many archetypal references that I get lost in exploring and re-exploring the roots of Tolkien's characters in myths.
I read aloud for some kids at our local library ... and they love "The Hobbit."
So let me say again,
"Welcome!" ... and jump right in!
Bear

I'd like to welcome you to this Forum page. I've been a member since about July or August of 2011 and I'm still learning a lot from the very knowledgeable members here. In Tolkien knowledge I consider myself to be a beginner to middle in what I know about Tolkien's works and am always looking forward to new members stirring the pot, so to speak. So, jump in anywhere and have fun. I'm looking forward to your posts.

Shame on me. I really should come here more. Especially since I am supposed to be a Moderator. Welcome to the forum. I guess better late then never. Hazelmallorn, did you know we have a thread where we can tell others what our favorite Tolkien favorite is and why? Maybe you could peruse the threads and see where it is hidden these days. That way you also see what other threads we have.
