Superb collection Glorfindel 1235! And now it's here on this page for the members to share in. Well done and thanks for going through the efforts of downloading these for easy access.
I was thinking that this thread could be for everyone to post their news about The Hobbit in, maybe sticky it? It would help in the lead up to The Hobbit release if we had a specific place for newcomers to find out news.

I think your idea of"this thread could be for everyone to post their news about The Hobbit in, maybe sticky it? It would help in the lead up to The Hobbit release if we had a specific place for newcomers to find out news..."is an excellent one.
What kind of "Hobbit" stuff should we post here? I mean should we keep it "movie" materials only? Or start a trivia and quote thread from the book? How about the musical? Or the animated version?
I will follow and support whatever you think best.

I was thinking of keeping it related to the upcoming films only rather than a discussion on anything related to The Hobbit. After all there is a forum devoted to The Hobbit I think, not to mention the films/games forum.
I was thinking that if anyone finds any news articles and/or videos about The Hobbit, particularly new ones between now and the release of the first film, this thread could be the one to post them in.

I might be able to link this thread from the main Tolkien Forums Homepage, allowing new viewers of the site to gain access straight to it. However I'll wait a while to see if it generates enough interest and to whether enough news is about to justify this at this moment in time.
It seems foolish to allow other websites to have a complete monopoly on this subject and it may generate new members for us closer to the time of release.

I've heard the official trailer for The Hobbit is being released today. Perhaps one of you guys in the US can post the link when it comes online as it'll probably be sometime in the early morning here.

"It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made," Jackson wrote on Facebook. "Recently Fran [Walsh], Philippa [Boyens] and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie -- and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: Do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved yes.'"
I've heard the dwarf Kili gets involved with a female Mirkwood elf. Here it is:
"On top of all the actual Tolkien appendices and notes, Jackson added new characters into the mix. Evangeline Lily (Lost) is playing Tauriel, a Mirkwood elf, who has some sort of romantic ties to Kili (played by Aidan Turner, the vampire from BBC's Being Human). As we stated before, Mirkwood elves appear twice in this story, even though Tauriel doesn't appear in the original Tolkien. It's already confirmed that Kili will be pursuing Tauriel... but on the battle field, in the woods, inside a barrel? That's another large Mirkwood plotline that doesn't appear in the books."
Not a good addition in my opinion. But there is lots more info here:
A friend from my Tolkien Society Group send me a 30 minute video about the production from the One Ring. I am hoping that now that they will make 3 movies out of the Hobbit, there will be a goodly portion on Beorn
