Leaf by Niggle

Has anyone read Leaf by Niggle and if so, what was your take on it?  I thought it a very deep story told in the disguise of a Faerie Tale, for lack of a better word.

At risk of beating a dead horse, has anyone read it yet?

I have read this story and foundly it strangly charming. I often envy people who can be so focused. Not sure I would want to be to close minded though.

It is certainly a strange story. I am struggling to remember exactly how it plays out. I remember the guy is a painter and he gets sent to some harsh place and then ends up in some strange 'otherwordly' place where the tree he once painted is brought to life in some near-paradise like environment.

I thought it was a very deep story. There are several levels one could take the story to. I thought of it as a metaphor for life and could see it representing our transition into a spiritual afterlife. I loved the story myself.

Pity the stories from the 'Tales from the Perilous Realm' are so short. I believe the whole book is not more than about a hundred and eighty pages.

I read it when I first got into serious study on Tolkien. I think it was sort of sad.

You do have to invest yourself in this story. It was not an easy read

It sounds interesting to say the least, I'll have to check'm out :) on a side note, i'd have never seen this thread was it not for lady Arwen posting again. Thank you for being so active on the forum

You are welcome. I spend a couple of hours a day going into the other pages that nobody ever clicks on and loook for things I am interested in or have posted in. I am glad you enjoy them as well, Huan.

Very much so, I do the same thing often. Usually I'm a bit worried to post on something that has been considered a dead thread but ocasionally I do. If for no other reason sometimes the newer members see something they haven't before

There are no such things as "Dead Threads" on this Forum. Please feel free to click on the pages on the bottom and revive old threads.

Will do Arwen :) I was once kicked out of another forum for such a thing and have thought twice about it since then

The Plaza, Huan? Please don't worry, we are much more relaxed here. I was banned from the Plaza several times.
And on LOTS Dream, I was accused of Plagiary. So I do not look kindly at the Plaza. It nearly drove me to suicide
several years ago.
WE are always glad with people who explore.
