Not a newbie, but one for this site

Hello all. I am an ardent fan of JRR tolkien. I have, indeed, read all of the books, and much of the lore of Arda. Yet, unlike to the proud Noldor, I am, like humble Ingwe, and I come here to correct my lore, and discuss it with like minded people..

picaroghosh,
Please excuse me for taking so long with a formal welcome.
Your input is very welcome.
Your comments in the thread, "Doomed at Birth" provoked some interesting questions about Turin, his sister, and the twists of their story. You might want to make that a new thread. It would get more attention and trigger more response.

Your statement ; "Turin's life is indeed one of woe and grief. Though I find little pity for him..."
Your comments on his pride; "The curse can be thought of as his own doing..." and connecting them with his deeds and the Satanic...
The element of pride that you connect with Feanor, the kin slaying, and his ultimate blame for Middle-Earth's troubles...
And then your questions about Nienor Niniel; "...has anyone thought of Nienor Niniel? ...What happened to her?...Where did the mighty waters of Teiglin and Sirion take her, ere the lands were drawn in to the tide?"
These may deserve threads of their own.

But why?
The thread "Doomed at Birth" is more about determinism and the polarity of Creator's choice or the Created's choice.
J.R.R. Tolkien, good Catholic boy that he was, was very familiar with the concept of predestination and determinism. It shows in all his works; major or minor. But it is a complicated subject as this quote presents;

"Predestination may sometimes be used to refer to other, materialistic, spiritualist, non-theistic or polytheistic ideas of determinism, destiny, fate, doom, or adrsta. Such beliefs or philosophical systems may hold that any outcome is finally determined by the complex interaction of multiple, possibly immanent, possibly impersonal, possibly equal forces, rather than the issue of a Creator's conscious choice."
(Wikipedia)
Rather than tangle your excellent comments in the philosophical malaise of determinism and predestination I suggest you create a new thread.

You are very welcome here. Your ideas will bring a new and interesting perspective which will challenge and encourage us.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bear
