A Season of Imagination...Brainstorming a TolKien Themed Event

My Friends,
Here in the United States we are getting ready for a holiday called "Halloween!"
It is one in which we celebrate with costumes, decorations and candy, carved pumpkins and scary stories,  parties and horror movies.
For the little ones it is candy from our neighbors with the shout of "trick or treat!"  But most of these children are so innocent there is no "trick" in their hearts.  There is just the joy of dress up and a sack full of candy and small toys.
The older children have their "haunted houses" or "trails of terror" with actors and actresses posing as bloody monsters raising screams of fright and laughter.  Scary movies, ghost stories, and costumes fill the night. .
For us adults it is a time when we let our hair down with mischief and let our imaginations run amuck. For most it is dress up and fun. Costumes range from the macabre to the grotesque to the silly and the sexy.  Sometimes the refreshments can get a little out of control and the pranks border on vandalism. But mostly it is a celebration with our friends and (if we are lucky enough to have them) our children.

I know it is celebrated differently in other lands.

Because of the range of activities during this season several themes can be brought to life; especially themes of fantasy.
Tolkien brought into our world wonderful creatures of good and evil, beautiful and hideous, simple and complicated.  His work is so rich that this Halloween festival might make for a perfect Tolkien theme party.
So here is the challenge and the crux...which of Tolkien's characters would you bring to life. What props costumes, and make-up would you use?  If you were host of a Tolkien themed party what decorations and refreshments would you have?.  Music?  Games?  What else comes to your mind?  What would make this an affair to remember?

I know this is different than our usual Forum's topic...but let us give this a spin! Put your two cents in on the party! ...and by the way...BOO!

I would dress up as Sam

I'd have a doll as Frodo and I'd kick him shouting "GET UP THAT BLOODY MOUNTAIN"

Ooooo what fun! I would love to have a whole barn to trick out! Dress it up as a great hall of the Elves with the beams and postes deguised as trees. High in the shadows would be a large "Shelob" and her smaller get. Orcs would be hiding about. In the center space would be one of those open fireplaces that we could sit around and tell stories, sing songs. One corner could be cleared as a dance floor and gaming space. As for who I would bring to life......maybe Gildor Inglorian and his "wandering troup"

Anorlas,
Yeah!  That sounds like fun!
Maybe a harp, flute, cello?
Nice thoughts!

I would bring a Thuringwethil costume. Shouldn't be too hard to find some rags and a pair of wings. Now...if I could only learn to fly....

A little late on this one but here it is. I would be Eowyn. I know, I know. You're probably all super surprised about this. I would turn my mother-in-laws horse barn into the golden hall and buy kegs of beer for everyone. We could take turns throwing my axes and hatchets and have a drinking contest. Whoever beats Filli's intake, without throwing up, you win!!

Do I detect a across the ocean challenge?
Or is this something the "gods" (Valar) have cursed me with...the vision of Filli and lomoduin engaged in projectile vomiting?
Coffee for me and maybe a lesson on throwing axes and hatchets while lomoduin is still sober...

My aim does not improve with the introduction of alcohol in to my system. lol Definitely before I imbibe is better for the lessons. No challenge for Filli from me though. I don't think I'm up for the challenge. Perhaps I'll leave that for my husband to take care of.
