Vote here whether ye think that the new Chat Box found at the bottom of all forum pages should stay, go, or stay and replace the Tolkien Forums formal chatroom found HERE.

I haven't posted a message in it yet but it looks pretty simple. All you have to do is click the 'Send a Message' link, type your message in the box and press 'Send message'.
I like it, and personally think it should completely replace the exisiting chat, since it takes a lot to load and needs to first load java (at least this is how it was the last time) Maybe though it should get a separate page, so that you can see more then just the previous 5 messages.
I agree with that. Though maybe it still would be better if they got a page of their own. That way you can chat without disturbing the other pages, and can see more messages...
All, I am willing to try it. But I am not exactly sure what it is meant to be. I also have a thought on how to personally recruit more members but I want to be sure they are "real" Tolkien buffs and not trying to just humor me. A several different groups are meeting over the holidays. I want to pitch the "Forums" to them along with Tolkien books, calendars, and toys. What can I do to help the "Forums"? Bear

Yeah I know. But how would you feel, when looking at a site that you consider joining and you get a post on the Front Page says December 14, 2008 and older?

Lady, Ok! I just sold two more who promised to sign up this weekend. Another idea...Thought that we might set up a kids thread for "The Hobbit". Maybe catch a jump on the movie and encourage youngsters with age appropriate graphics and kid friendly adults to guide them. Not sure if that is a good idea or not. What do you think? Anybody?

To be honest, I don't think I ever noticed the chat box at the bottom of the page. I also don't think I've ever been on the forum when there was another active member. I want to say I saw Bear on once for a minute when I had first signed in. I would definitely use the chat box if given the opportunity, though.
And I was on there too Bilbo. I actually started the whole thing last night, but I had to go to bed at 10:30 because I had to get up early. I couldn't stay up until they went to bed. We had several hours of great chatting before I even went to bed.

Looks like it was a lucky coincidence you guys were on! Remember, if you really wantto chat to eachother, you can always arrange a time of day. I think you lot are all from the wrong side of the pond, right Should be easy with time zones.
