Hi!

I stopped by for a look but unfortunately I don't see much serious discussion.  Perhaps I'm just spoiled from the other forums I'm on.  Am I missing something?

Welcome Baron, have you gone through all the forums? Or just looked at the Most Recent Posts category?

Welcome to TF Baron.

Indeed you are right with you assessment. Back along we had lots of serious Lore discussions as you will find over the forums. We had very few games however. So gradually as more and more members wanted RPs, Trivia and stuff the Lore topics went by the wayside.

However you can be sure that any lore topics you wish to discuss will be answered well as there are still a few sleeping lions amoung us that posses alot of quotes and knowledge at hand ready to use. smile.gif

Unfortunatle about 60% of Tolkien fans just want games, 30% want both lore and games, whilst just 10% just want lore.

Same here. I have a well-stocked Tolkien Reference Library, which could be searched for answers. But I still don't have "The Tolkien Letters" Looking for it locally before sending for it from the internet.

Welcome, Baron! It's nice to meet new members (and loremasters biggrin.gif). Hope you stay active, and choose a "kingdom" =).

Mae Govannen, Baron.
I've been looking for a discussion forum (one not centered around RPGs), and though there doesn't seem to be much going on here on the surface, this place seems to have potential. "Lore", in the sense of knowledge regarding Middle-Earth minutiae, isn't really my thing; but I've been working my way through the mountain of published Tolkien criticism for about a year now, and have nobody to bounce my thoughts off of (just finished "The Individuated Hobbit" & would love to growl about it to somebody!). Community growth hardly signifies anything on the internet, where people come and go. Depth, however, is measurable over time. I'm actually happy to see new members noting the lack... it means we are filling the gaps. I'll be around all week - PM me if you like.

Welcome Baron to Forums smile.
Like others have said it before me, this place does have lore-side but people just have to find their way there. Keep an eye of those forums and you might be surprised.
