It might sound stupid

but why not telling you. I recently had a general look over the forums I signed for a membership and I realized that people are more motivated to post when they're being rewarded for the posts they make.
I saw many things like 'fanatic points', 'charma', 'credits', 'reputation' etc but I wanted to see which one would fit TF.
Wouldn't this be an idea to organize various competitions and contests not just based on Tolkien lore skills but also on art, poetry, creativity etc and the winners to receive such 'points' or whatever as a reward?
When you post you gain a post. Very simple and very practical that is. And advancing in rank should stay based on the number of posts. But shouldn't people who are fully dedicated to the forums and contributed esentialy to its general wealth have something special to distinguish them from the others?

Good idea, however I am not so sure it will work
I think I proposed it some time ago, but I think The One mentioned the ranking system can't be changed, so probably ranking is still post-based and not point-based.
Still, good idea, and if such a change is possible, then I definitely back it up!

The Ranking system is post-based rather than point-based which disables us from issuing complementary points for good members. However we do offer other means of gaining favour and complementary upgrading of status by means of Site support, financial or member recruitment, quality of posts, members who have stayed a long time and hath done genrally good postings through ups and downs can also receive reward (thus is how The Might became a Special Side-Rank).

How can I financially support the site? Is there a thread I can go to and just click on a link to donate? I would have to send a check to whoever is taking the money. Are they US or Oversees?
