ArwenLegolas' Poetry Jumbles

Here is a sampling of some of my LOTR inspired Poetry. I hope you like it.

This is my very First Tolkien inspired Poem
                   Sounds of Awakening

In the Waters of Cuiviénen where the Elves had their Beginning, on Awakening they saw a star shining brightly from afar, set by the Valar them as Guide so they would not get lost at night.
They looked upon the Constellations glitt'ring brilliant from afar. They saw Soronúmë, Anarríma and the Mighty Menelmacar, showing forth his mighty Belt; for Varda Took Telperion's Dew and set there in the heavens anew, the Stars that Melkor dimmed.
Due North the elves see Valacirca, Melkor saw them from afar, the Sickle of the Mighty Valar. He knew on Ea he had no room, that he was looking at his doom.
By star-lit skies and Sound of Water, the Firstborn woke there from their sleep, they played and gamboled in Cuviénen because the water as not deep.
As Oromë rode through the Forest, he heard their Singing from below, with wonder he looked on the Quendi, from then on loved them evermore.
The elves loved Varda Elentary, revered above all other Valar, they call to her in times of trouble their words you still hear from afar:
"A Elbereth Gilthoniel sìlìvren penna mìriel,
O menel aglar elennath, na-chared palan dìriel,
galadhremmin ennorath Fanuilos le linnathon nef, aear si nef."

We still remember, we who dwell in this far land beneath the trees, the starlight on the Western seas.
Then Melkor made the Firstborn fear with noises in the wood, his servants and his demons devoured them when they could.
Then Melkor in his new disguise spoke of the Valar bad, but Oromë among them dwelled and with the blowing of his Horn he chased away the Bad.
Then came a noise of fear and rending, but Oromë rode on Nahar, whose coat of Silver one could see shining brightly from afar.
But Oromë the Mighty Hunter, with his Spear and with his Bow, on his Mighty Horn would blow, which is called the Valaroma, he sounded the Charge of the war of the Valar.
and they made war there upon Melkor, unroofed his Halls and broke his pits. He fled at last to dark Utumno, surrounded by his demon host, he knew that Ea to him was lost.
Then Tulkas wrestled there with Melkor and cast him down into the Dust. They bound him then with strong Againor, the chain that Aulë had made, and locked him in the Void!
Before the Children came to be the Valar then repaired the World. The Silver Lights shone brightly in the Sky, surrounding there the Seven-Star, the Sickle of the Valar, of which the Crown of Stars were made.

Here ends the Story of Awakening, and all the Sounds that came with it. The fell foes fled into the darkness and stayed there in the pit.

Eternal Love
Eternal Love?
What is Eternal?
What is Love?
It's all pervasive, it comes from above.
It's planted into the heart of every newborn Elven child
It's to be cultivated, and not to grow wild.
Eternal is a heavy word
and if you're a youth you will surely have heard
That his or her love for you is Eternal
Until you are married - and then it's infernal.

Song of Gondolin

Oh Ondolindë, Hill of Stone and Song
surrounded by th' Encircling Mountains
Who bear the Name Echoriath
Hidden in the Cleft of the Rock.
Build in Secret over the life-age of a man.

Oh City in whose Walls dwelled Idril and Eärendil
Whose white walls were rising high in Alabaster glow
Shining like white Gold and Diamonds in the sun.
Whose Beautiful Gardens harboured Glingal and Belthil.
Growing Safely in the Shadows on the Hill

Oh that I might see thee,
in the Morning of an eternal Sunrise
See the Silver and the Gold,
on the Trees, who are a wonder to behold
Shining Brightly in the Sunlight

Evening has come, like a shadow over my Soul
Ever searching. Never finding
My Soul longeth for thee.
Gone art thou. No longer hidden
discovered you did fall.

Night Time

The Moon is in the trees above, his sheen around them shed.
The Elves and Men and Hobbits were fast asleep in bed.
He looks upon the wolf, the deer, and owls
which is a hunter among those that are fowls.

But once upon a time at night,
when all the stars where shining bright
The Elves woke in Cuviénen
where they had their beginning.
Gildor Inglorion and his folk
where walking through the woods one night
as they were walking they couldnt
believe their Elven sight.
two Hobbits were out and about at
Woody End this night.

"Well Frodo it is good to see you
and were in the world are you traveling to?"
Frodo to his great Surprise
looked the Elven Lord straight in the Eyes

He said to him "Suilad mellon nín
I'm going to Rivendell. So how have you been?
I am going to Lord Elrond, to give him a ring.
Gandalf will meet us, it's such a strange thing."

Gildor said: "Let us travel together,
like the birds of a feather
we will go and we'll feast
from midnight at least.
Til the moon's sheen
can no longer be seen.

When the feast was oér and the night was deep
Frodo and the Elves went finally to sleep.
In the Woodland Hall, with its trees so tall
he awoke in the morning hours after dawning.

The Elves were gone, but left them food
and boy that Elven food tasted good
Now the sun was in the ski
and the birds did fly
and sing their song
now the night is gone.

Thoughts on Winter and the Future

Winter has come, early it is dark
In the white snow, you can't see a mark
The Moon is bright, it gives us light
So we won't stumble in the night

With Eyes all bright and Hearts alight
We see the stars, they're shining bright.
Where Elbereth has placed them
We sit outside and gaze at them

Our memory on wings, we think of other things
We play and sing, our thoughts take wing
They fly, fly to the sky, there comes a reply
From Elbereth to us, as the day grows nigh.
Our pain we forget, look at what's ahead
We rise to our feet, jump out of our bed.
With our eyes all wide, for gone is the night
For darkness has left, no stars, moon or night.

If Elbereth Gilthoniel has send us blessings
nothing will stand in our way or lessen
Our joy.

A Cold Night in December

It was a cold night in December,
How long ago? I don't remember!
I was freezing! It was blazing!
That I didn't freeze was real amazing!

The stars shone brightly in the trees
and through the branches blew a breeze
No roses bloomed, no squirrel zoomed.
Just a lonely lilac Crocus bloomed.

It is the Wintertime of year,
when the air is cold and clear
No bird is heard in mount or vale
and Hobbits go and order Ale

They order Ale to Celebrate
the Yuletide when the food is great.
They gather together and debate
until it's usually really late.

They think of the Blessings the year has brought
of the things that be, and the things that ought.
Young Hobbits stay up really late

Worried

It has been five days since
your paths and my ways
have crossed and I am feeling lost
Was there a word or a deed,
which I left replete

Clouds are shading my path
and I fear the aftermath
Was it some I did in Word or Deed,
that made our Love incomplete?

My heart is aching and my soul is quaking
and I hurt as though my body is breaking
while my knees are shaking

The Uncertainty is like insanity
I feel lost without,
heres nothing I can do about

Ever since you sailed away,
my mind has gone astray
It roams in desert places
and it finds no room to stay

Come back my beloved to the Cottage by the spring
Where the birds are singing and our love did begin
Where Eithel splashed us with water, refreshing and clear
Where our hearts were singing and we held each other dear

This waiting drives me crazy
my days are all hazy
and I feel unfocused
and my bones are dry as a locust

   I said "Yes"

Today he asked me
and I felt like telling the world-
tell them what?
Tell them that I said Yes
When he spoke my soul soared
like a nightingale towards the sky
His love is sweet and more intoxicating then wine
His silver hair falls like white waters
rushing down his shoulders
His Deep Blue Eyes are like the
Waters around Tol Eressëa on a still night
Deep, blue, still.
His bearing is Royal. He dances, no he floats
You cannot call it dance.
My soul is filled with wonder. The wonder of first Love.
Unbroken by pain of disappointment.
But in pain nonetheless, so exquisite, Loves pain.
I am floating on a cloud over Rainbows made of Flowers
Daffodils, Violets, Irises and Roses. Evermind.
My mind is on fire, light, golden, silver.
In my mind I can see the Valier gliding through the clouds
Riding on the winds Bestowing their Blessings on us.
But now I am treading on Arda once more.
I see the Handiwork of Elbereth, Everwhite, Varda Kementari.
I can almost hear Oromes Horn and the footfall of Nahar
As I walk through the woods like in a dream.
Because He loves me
I Said Yes

This poem below got picked out of 10,000 submissions by Poetry.com and was published in one of their Poetry Books Loves First Song

It is the evening of the Day
In the beautiful month of May
With the Moon out in the Skies
The Maiden of Gondor sits down and sighs

She had caught a glimpse of the Elfs Silver hair
and in her heart she knew, he would always be there

He hailed from Alqualond
and had forged a solid Bond
He had stolen her heart,
that she never will part

As a warrior he had hailed
In Silver and Galvorn maild
He rescued her from obscurity
And promised a life of security

The Joy and the Laughter
will last ever after
Their Union will last
Because by Eru it will be Blessd

Some pretty good poems there Arwen. I like the initial story about the Elves awakening. However I have one question:

"But Oromë the Mighty Hunter, with his Spear and with his Bow, on his Mighty Horn would blow, which is called the Valaroma, he sounded the Charge of the war of the Valar.
and they made war there upon Melkor, unroofed his Halls and broke his pits. He fled at last to dark Utumno, surrounded by his demon host, he knew that Ea to him was lost.
Then Tulkas wrestled there with Melkor and cast him down into the Dust. They bound him then with strong Againor, the chain that Aulë had made, and locked him in the Void!"

The War when Utumno was broken is called the War of Powers and is the second war between Melkor and the Valar. In this war he is taken captive to Valinor and then thrown in prison in Mandos. Its not until the Third great War, the War of Wrath, that Melkor is cast through the door of Night into the Void.

Bilbo Baggins, that was my very first poem. When I first began to read about Tolkien's other works.  I know now that that is not corpus but Poets License. I was more or less emotionally involved with the Sil when I wrote it. I had only read up to page 30. I hope the other ones were a little bit more to Corpus Standarts.

And thank you Angmar for you kind words.

It's nice, good job, I realise it's pretty hard to write poetry
Personally, I prefet poems with an always constant rhyme and rhythm as well
It gives them this kind of Elvish perfection, only achieved by many improvements throughout the Ages.
Still, your work is really good!

Yeah Rumil Why don't you put some of your work in thread? That would be great.

When night is long and stars are bright
The Bird's song will die out at night
The Elves will roam throughout wild
but only when the weather is mild.

When Frodo came to Woody End
Gildor Inglorion was heaven-send
They rescued Frodo from the Wraiths
That Gildor really is an ace.

See Rumil I came up with this ditty in less then 5 minutes. It's not that hard, really.
