New dog name

I am getting a female Siberian Husky (gray-white with blue eyes) in a few days and I wanted go give her an Elvish name. Preferably a Quenya name. But I have absolutely no knowledge of Elvish or know where to get any words. If any one can point me to a site or give a name suggestion that would be great. Thanks

gumballthechewy, here is a site with female Elven names. maybe while you are there, you could pick one for yourself

They do have Boy names there too. Here is the link for that, if you decide to take on an elvish name

Well I picked the name:Sindafëa (It means Grey-Spirit) I found this place it's pretty cool, it's an Elvish to English Dictionary. But I don't know how to pronounce the last part: Fëa, properly. Is it, Fay or, Fee-a, or something else. If you know how to pronounce it that would be great, if not oh well I guess.

Definitely not "fay", but rather fee-a, but keep in mind stress on the "a". So it shoould sound like "feea" and not "feya" or "fiia". I think. :D

Yes, definitely not feya but Fay A,. The base word is Faer, spirit. Sindafaeriel would also be appropriate and easier to understand. But it is up to you.

To add a bit: there is Quenya faire 'spirit in general', and Quenya fea 'spirit', a particular spirit belonging to and housed in any one body of an incarnate, more or less 'soul'; and 'mind' or the impulse and power to think as distinct from the means of acquiring data. Tolkien's definition of fea is actually a little longer, but that's basically it (fae and faer are Sindarin I would say, as in Faenor)

gumballthechewy you might end up calling your dog Sinde for short (which would be feminine, masculine Sindo), or basically 'Grey (one)'. Or at least I know I use the nicknames more often for my animals.

And welcome smile

I was actually thinking *Sindilos just combining words grey + white ('snow-white' technically, but it snows in Siberia I think, so it seems to be somewhat fitting). I know you've made your choice, but that's what I thought of when I read your description anyway.

Yes, I was thinking of names with snow in it. But the name isn't set in stone, well paper (I still haven't gotten her yet) and I'm still thinking of the name. I've been running Sindafëa in my head and it just doesn't click so I think I'm gonna s**** that.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           (don't know why this^ is all *'rd out all I said was s-c-r-a-p)

By the way, I am as bad as it gets with names. It takes me hours to name a character in a game.

Yeah, the evil word detection software is not that good on activeboard it seems. So if you say a bad work like c-r-a-p within another one, even if it then loses any time of bad connotation it still gets stars.

Btw, I like Sindafea more than Sindilos for the record. :D

I was aiming for a name with fëa in it. I like the ring it adds, I dunno. But I'm leaving tomorrow to get her so I think I'm going to name her Sindafëa. I'm 97% sure.

Awww... cute!
I bet you expected that reaction but really your dogs both look so lovable.
Is it just me or does Sindafea have a blue and a green eye?

Ah they're so cute. I wish I wasn't allergic to animal and had more money. But a dog is expensive and requires quality time. Neither of which I have

Ya..... a LOT of time. These dogs where $800 each then you got to buy food and toys and every thing else too. But its worth it, for me anyway.

This year we were blessed with extra Emergency Unemployment Compensation. About $4800 extra money. But my husband's Social Security Disability check was only $532 a month. So we lived on about $11,000 dollars. Next year we will not be that lucky. Although we will have a cost of living increase to $598 a month, that is all we are going to get, unless he gets a job after his surgery. That means we will have to live on $7176 a year. So a puppy even a small breed, would cost $200 extra $$$ for a pet deposit plus shots and food and maintenance. So I guess you can see that we could never afford to even buy one. But yours are eally sweet.
