Everyone makes mistakes even great film makers like Peter Jackson, so lets start a challenge to find as many mistakes as we can in the Lord of the rings trilogy films.
Note: mistakes pertain to things that affect the realism of the film not its differences from the book
Elves using shields as surf Boards shoot'n arrows. Hate it, Hate it, HATE IT.
I also think it was bring the 'Dead' to the fields of Plennor Battle was a mistake, but then again it was a short cut for the non-Tolkien fans.
I'm not sure 'Mistakes' is the correct terminology here. PJ and his team, I believe, did not make 'Mistakes', but I DO believe there are many 'CHANGES' that are mistakes.
Isn't there an instance where Eomer drops his sword when he is riding off with the other Rohhirim after having surrounded Aragorn Gimli and Aragorn? I'll have to check.

No, what I also dislike is the too extreme comical relief with remarks such as "My axe is embedded in his nervous system". I would really enjoy a "What is a nervous system, Gimli?" reply from Legolas.
In the books it said that Éomer was in the middle van with King Théoden, but was so driven that he raced ahead of the King and wasn't there to protect Théoden and that is why the King of Rohan actually feel. In the movie I believe that PJ had Éomer right in one of the flanks if I am not mistaken

Ramas Echor From Tolkien Gateway The Rammas Echor was an outer defense-work of the city of Minas Tirith, constructed on the order of Steward Ecthelion II after the final loss of Ithilien in the year 2954 of the Third Age. It was a great wall, over 10 leagues in length, encircling the fields of Pelennor, the hither defenseless townlands of the city. Nonetheless, the defensive value of the Rammas was open to doubt: for at its furthest point, it was some four leagues from the city and thus could not be manned in strength, since the main defense of Minas Tirith lay in its city-walls and Great Gate. Moreover, defenders on the out-wall might find themselves cut off from retreat were a breach to be made and the gap stormed in strength. At best, Rammas could only serve to delay unsupported Cavalry forces or foot soldiers without breaking tools. The Rammas was repaired at the time of the WR but was easily breached by by the army of the Lord of the Nazgûl in March 13th, 3019.

Lets me make things clearer, i meant mistakes that affect realism for the veiwer not ommisions from the book, so the wall around Pelenor does not count as it would not make a difference for someone who has not read the book. here is an example of what i mean.
In the scene where the riders of rohan attack the orcs that have taken Merry and pippin captive, The horse rears over pipin his arms are not bound, in the next scene his hands are tied together and he cuts the rope of his hands.
What about the one with Legolas' arrows? Forgotten which film (maybe the second). He has a quiver of arrows of one colour, and then next minute the arrow fletchings and/or the knocks are a different colour.
In the first movie, when Sam and Frodo are crossing the field and Sam says that's the farthest he has ever gone from home, you can see a car in the background ^^. That's only seen in the cassette version of the film though, they removed it for the DVD.
